Farahnaz Ispahani greets the Christian community Easter
Ms Farahnaz Ispahani, the former Pakistani parliamentarian of PPP and presidential adviser and author of forthcoming book ” Waiting to die: Pakistan’s Religious minorities” has warmly greeted the Christian community on the auspicious occasion of Easter and Lenten.
In a message she said that Easter and Lenten are important religious events in the history of Christianity that convey the message of piety, tranquillity, peace and patience. She said that Christians should follow the true teachings of Christ Jesus Messiah while the Muslim majority must make an effort to understand and learn about the problems of our Christian brethren in Pakistan. She said that such holy events promote peace and demote those elements that create situation of angst and instability through terrorism and extremism.
Ms Ispahani said that all men are born equal therefore meting out equal treatment to all can effectively resolve our numerous social and religious problems. According to Farahnaz Ispahani, all prophets were Allah’s emissaries bringing the message of peace, love and brotherhood. She said that no religion on the surface of this earth encourages its followers to pursue violence or bloodshed or desecrate holy places sacred to other religions.
For a peaceful and progressive Pakistan it is the need of the hour for the followers of every religion and sect to set aside all personal biases and religious differences and work for the betterment of our ill-fated human society which has become the greatest victim of religious intolerance around the globe, Ispahani insisted.
Ms Ispahani said that the scourge of terrorism is affecting all Pakistanis and we must be united to combat it .
Ms Inspahani in her message has asked all Pakistanis especially the political parties to continue to uphold the rights of the Christians and other minorities in our country emphasizing that minorities must be treated in accordance with the constitutional provisions whereby all citizens of the state should be considered equal and allowed to actively participate in its development.
The closing words of Farahnaz Ispahani’s message plead the Christian community to pray for peace in the country as only peace can ensure a secure, stable and progressive Pakistan.
